Security fears saw CAF Bank, which serves 14,000 UK charities, suspend its online banking portal.
Charities across the South East are struggling to manage their finances due to a suspension of online services by CAF Bank, which serves over 14,000 non-profit causes in the UK. The bank's online banking service was shut down on July 24 after reports of suspected cyber fraud, leaving charities unable to access their accounts and pay staff and suppliers. This has caused significant stress for some charities, including Maidstone-based 21 Together, which helps people with Down's syndrome. Its chief executive Kevan Hodges said that his team had wasted days trying to contact the bank and were still waiting for a resolution. Other charities have also voiced their frustrations with CAF Bank, citing a lack of reassurance from the bank about when services will be restored. The bank has stated that it is working with external experts to resolve an issue related to its online banking portal, but has not given a specific timeframe for when services will resume.
