The strong box office performance gives a boost to Disney ahead of the much-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.
* Spider-Man: Brand New Day grossed $927m globally in its opening weekend
* This makes it the second-biggest opening weekend ever, behind only Avengers: Endgame
* The film exceeded its estimated production budget of $225m and set a new record for North American box office takings with $335m
* The movie performed well internationally, making $572m from over 73,000 screens outside the US, including $121m from China
* Spider-Man: Brand New Day is Marvel's last big-screen outing before Avengers: Doomsday and has given a boost to the studio ahead of its highly-anticipated December release.
