Mon, 03 Aug 2026 Xbox Series X price hiked by £170 due to rising memory chip costs

Xbox consoles now cost significantly more in the UK, with one model increasing in price by 43%.

* Microsoft has increased the prices of its Xbox consoles worldwide due to rising costs of memory and storage chips.
* The premium Series X console now costs £670 (previously £500) while the baseline Xbox Series S console is now £430 (previously £300).
* Similar price hikes have been seen in the US, where the basic consoles rose by $100 to $499, and in the EU, where a Series S console with more storage will cost around €200 more.
* The company blamed the rising costs of console storage and memory for needing to raise prices on consumers.
* Other tech firms, including Sony and Valve, have also increased their prices due to hardware and storage component costs.
* Some users have criticized Microsoft and other companies for passing on these costs to consumers.
