Fri, 07 Aug 2026 Mums hope school uniform swap will help families

Items were donated to the pair for a swap event held in Tavistock Library.

* A free school uniform swap shop, Tavistock Uniform Swap Shop, has been set up by two mums in Devon to help families save money on uniforms.
* The event aims to stop families from "forking out" on expensive clothing and reduce waste by reusing existing items.
* Donations include branded and unbranded jumpers, shirts, skirts, dresses, wet weather clothing, shoes, lunchboxes, and trousers.
* There is a cap on the number of secondary school branded items that parents can buy under new government regulations, which will be introduced in September.
* The swap shop has been successful with over half of the uniforms taken and people are asking for another event to be held at the end of summer holidays.
* The organisers hope to make it an annual event if feedback is positive.
