Mon, 10 Aug 2026 Nvidia gets $500bn from major investors to develop AI infrastructure

The money will be used to develop new data centres to house, operate, and cool miles of stacked computer chips that process AI data and actions.
Nvidia's computer chips are used by every major technology and AI company, including Google, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, SpaceX, Tesla, OpenAI and Anthropic. These companies have collectively spent over $1tn on AI projects and infrastructure in just three years, driving Nvidia's stock market value up fivefold in the same period. The partnership with Wall Street banks and investors will allow Nvidia to finance more of the AI boom, which is expected to drive significant long-term economic growth and productivity gains. "Modern compute has emerged as a scarce, mission-critical asset class," said Jim Zelter, president of Apollo. BlackRock recently entered into an individual deal with Meta to finance one data centre in Texas, while Anthropic entered into a deal with Macquarie Asset Management and GIC for its own investment in AI infrastructure.
