Some respondents mentioned that university graduates often leave the island due to limited job opportunities, while others expressed frustration at the lack of community between young people and older generations. A report by Dr. Nicola Brink highlighted the importance of addressing these issues, including the need for stable career prospects, affordable housing, and a welcoming environment for young people. The survey also found that many young islanders feel isolated and lonely, with some citing social media as a contributing factor to their mental health concerns. Maisie Foote from the wellbeing team at the Youth Commission stated that young people are trying to navigate challenging circumstances, including the impact of social media on their lives. She emphasized the need for more understanding and support services for young islanders. The report's author, Dr. Brink, expressed a desire for the island to be a vibrant and happy place where young people can thrive.
