Tue, 18 Aug 2026 'Banned over a pair of £2 sandals': Why some sellers are complaining about Vinted

Several thousands of Vinted users say they have been wrongly suspended or permanently banned from the preloved app.

* Vinted has banned thousands of users for allegedly selling counterfeit items or engaging in "fraudulent activity", including Emma Neil who was permanently banned for listing a pair of sandals for £2 that she had originally bought for £3.
* Many of these users claim to have been wrongly suspended or permanently banned, and say they spent hours sending messages to Vinted's customer service team only to receive automated responses.
* Freelance marketeer Catherine Warrilow believes the automation system used by Vinted is not working properly and is detecting legitimate items as counterfeit.
* Professional seller Matthew Connor was also banned for "fraudulent activity" after listing a used North Face fleece, but had his ban lifted two weeks later after appealing.
* Vinted says it doesn't comment on individual cases, but uses a combination of trained moderation teams, member reports and detection tools to identify potential breaches of its catalogue rules.
* Consumer expert Helen Dewdney believes the problem lies with customer service and that AI is making too many mistakes.
* Anyone who believes they've been unfairly banned or suspended should first go through Vinted's own appeal process, then contact their legal team and make a subject access request (SAR).
