Mon, 24 Aug 2026 New 10p coin enters circulation - will you spot one?

The coin has been designed to feature King Charles III and a Scottish grouse close to extinction.
The Royal Mint has released new 10p coins featuring King Charles and the capercaillie, a bird found in Scotland and threatened with extinction. The coins were minted in 2023 and 2026 and will enter circulation across the UK. The redesign is part of a larger effort to feature the country's flora and fauna on coins, including bees, oak trees, and other wildlife. Only 1% of the UK's 24.1 billion coins in circulation carry King Charles' portrait, making new ones highly sought after by collectors. The Royal Mint hopes that the coins will raise awareness about the capercaillie's decline and conservation efforts.
