The move comes weeks after a DJ admitted using AI to remix a Madonna song that topped the Australian charts.

* Australia's music charts will only include songs that are "substantially human made" from this week.
* The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) has introduced a new code to promote the human nature of artistry and prevent AI-generated music from being included in the charts.
* AI assistance can still be used, but humans must have written the song, performed the lead vocal and primary instruments.
* AI can also be used for mastering songs and tasks like drum machines and auto-tune.
* Artists will be required to declare AI use when submitting a song for chart consideration.
* If it is later discovered that music was largely AI-generated, ARIA may retrospectively adjust chart positions or request awards to be returned.
* Australian electronic act Peking Duk supports the move, with band member Adam Hyde saying AI-generated music "removes the human experience from life".
* The new code follows a controversy around an AI-assisted song by DJ Josh Fawaz that topped Australia's dance singles chart.
