Tarr's Ice Cream, a family-run business in Bristol that has been operating since the 1920s, will be closing its doors after 106 years due to rising costs. The shop's owners cited factors such as Brexit, the pandemic, and ongoing conflict around the world as contributing to increased expenses, including electricity bills which rose from £14,000 in 2012 to £78,000 last year. Despite attempts to stay open, the family has decided it is no longer sustainable and will close after selling remaining stock. A post on social media expressed gratitude to customers past and present, acknowledging that the decision was "upsetting and difficult" but necessary.
