Wed, 02 Sep 2026 Uber to cut over 3,000 jobs in major global restructuring

The company says cutting roles would make its operations "simpler and faster".
Uber plans to cut around 3,000 jobs worldwide, approximately 10% of its global workforce. This move is aimed at shrinking management layers and refocusing spending on core business areas. The cuts will bring staffing back to levels seen in 2021. According to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, the company expanded too quickly and accumulated unnecessary layers that slowed decision-making. The restructuring aims to make Uber simpler and faster while freeing up resources for investments in key areas such as autonomous vehicles and robotaxis. Analysts estimate the layoffs could generate up to $2 billion in annual savings.
