Proceeds from the event help fund Christmas for families struggling financially in the South East.
The Greenaway Foundation provides ingredients for a two-course Christmas dinner to around 1,000 low-income families in Kent, Sussex and Surrey each year. The charity's founder, Darren Greenaway, stated they need to raise £200,000 this year.
As part of their work, children from disadvantaged backgrounds can make a "wish for a Christmas present", which is then delivered on Christmas Eve by the organisation. Some parents reportedly break down in tears when receiving the gift.
The first Greenway Live took place last year and will be streamed online again this year. Local acts are donating their time for free to support the cause, calling it a "mini Live Aid".
