* Eat Social, a community interest company, is challenging people to survive on just £3 of food a day for two days to highlight the issue
* The challenge is based on research showing that lowest income families are feeding themselves on £25 a week per person, which works out at about £3 a day
* Proceeds from Eat Social's sandwich shop will go towards providing nourishing meals to groups in schools and those struggling with food insecurity
* Food prices continue to rise, putting more pressure on families, and experts warn that the situation is "unacceptable"
* The government has acknowledged the issue and is taking action to drive down prices of essentials, improve access to healthy food and expand free school meals
