Mon, 07 Sep 2026 Jaguar Land Rover to cut 4,000 jobs over next two years

The cuts come as the carmaker struggles with Chinese competition, US tariffs, and the transition to electric vehicles.
The cuts will mainly affect JLR's UK head office, with a voluntary redundancy program open until October 4. If needed, compulsory redundancies will be made with less generous terms. JLR aims to save £1.7bn over the next two years through these reductions. The company faced significant losses after a cyber-attack last year that caused production shutdown for more than a month. David Bailey, business and economics professor at Birmingham University, called JLR "as strategically important as it gets for the UK economy" and said many jobs depend on its supply chain.
