Spiegel stated that setting a maximum amount of time that young users could spend on the app "would be an important step forward for the industry". The move comes as Snap faces mounting pressure to make platform changes similar to those agreed upon by Meta in its recent multi-billion dollar legal settlement with US states. Meta was accused of deliberately designing its apps to be addictive to young users and agreed to implement a two-hour daily limit for teen users across its platforms by default. Snap's CEO acknowledged that the company has discussed internally implementing time limits, but did not commit to a timeline on when this might happen. In related news, Snap revealed new features for its upcoming Specs glasses, which can connect to Apple iPhone and Mac devices, offering live translation across 60 languages and other capabilities. The smart eyewear will use AI to suggest activities based on users' goals, relationships, and routines. The specs will retail at $2,195 in the US and £1,995 in the UK, targeting early adopters of tech and developers as well as enterprise customers.
