Mon, 21 Sep 2026 Airlines criticise air traffic control as second glitch causes more disruption

Prime Minister Andy Burnham said further issues "cause even greater concern" about the UK's air traffic control and the head of the organisation that runs it.

* An independent review into the resilience of the UK's air traffic control system is underway, with results expected within six months.
* Passengers are unlikely to be entitled to compensation for delays or cancellations caused by the incident, according to the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
* Industry representatives have called for "urgent and accountable" action to bolster the UK's air traffic control infrastructure.
* Nats apologised for the disruption and said it is working to return air traffic to normal as quickly as possible.
* The transport secretary acknowledged that passengers are "deeply frustrated" by the situation.
