The Lib Dem leader vows to raise tax thresholds if he becomes PM, in a speech to his party conference.

*The Lib Dem leader, Sir Ed Davey, said the party would fund this package with an estimated £17 billion from the economic boost expected from rejoining the EU single market and customs union.

*Under the plan, most taxpayers could see a £680 cut in their tax bill, but it would not come into full effect until the fifth year of a Lib Dem government, potentially up to eight years away.

*The party says they would raise the 40p income tax threshold from £50,270 to £56,000 and increase the starting point for paying employee NI to £15,000, arguing that more people are being dragged into higher tax brackets than intended.

*Sir Ed Davey attacked Reform UK's similar policy, saying it would be "paid for through cruelty" by cutting crucial support from disabled people.
