A former chef contacted Hackney Council after complaining to managers at the members' club.

* Hackney Council is investigating Soho House's Shoreditch location over food safety and hygiene concerns
* A former staff member, Kamran Khan, raised concerns about rats and out-of-date food being served, but his contract was terminated two months after he first complained
* Khan claimed he was pressured to replace labels on prepared food if it wasn't sold by the end of the day and regularly saw rats at the venue
* Soho House said the food incident was isolated and re-labelling unsold food was not company policy, but did not comment on the rats claim
* The council has confirmed an investigation is underway after receiving a report about food safety and hygiene at Shoreditch House
* Khan's employment with Soho House was terminated in September, two months after he first raised concerns informally about the alleged re-labelling practice
* Soho House apologised for the incident and said an external, independent investigation and audit were conducted
