Wed, 30 Sep 2026 Risks being taken with heating oil orders, firm says

Customers in Berkshire and Hampshire are leaving it late to refill their tanks, an oil firm says.
Dave Marsh from Marsh Fuels said customers are taking a risk by waiting for prices to drop, adding: "If we get a cold snap and they're running low, it may suddenly become urgent." Some residents in Berkshire and Hampshire are already experiencing delays in ordering oil, with Andrew Illingworth saying he was handling fewer orders than normal. Chris Wheeler said he planned to buy oil when the price dropped, while energy expert Ellen Fraser advised buying now as prices are expected to remain high until at least April and May. The Fuel Distribution Association warned customers to prepare for periods of increased demand due to international developments affecting wholesale energy markets.
