Sun, 18 Oct 2026 Microsoft pulls out of UK's largest AI data centre

Tech firm Nscale says it is still committed to building the site in Essex.
Company remains strong with Microsoft on other projects and explores alternative power sources, including expansion sites in UK. Data centre was expected to receive power supply at end of the year but will now not happen until 2030s due to "London-wide grid issue". Project is expected to create 250 permanent jobs when it eventually opens. Nscale also working on projects with Microsoft in Norway, Portugal and US.
