Mon, 19 Oct 2026 Anthropic says it will commit 5% of its shares to 'public benefit fund'

The announcement comes as Anthropic lays the ground for a blockbuster stock market listing.
- Anthropic's co-founder Jack Clark says the company will commit 5% of its shares to a fund that supports public good. - The AI firm may also add another 2% of its shares to the fund at its discretion. - None of the shares held by the fund will be used for lobbying or political donations in the US or overseas. - The Public Benefit Fund could support nonprofit organizations and efforts to address AI's impact on the jobs market. - Anthropic has reported a 45% surge in revenue to $16.8bn (£12.6bn) in the three months to September. - The company is preparing for a potential blockbuster stock market listing that could value it at over $1tn (£750bn). - CEO Dario Amodei has called for AI development to slow down, but some have questioned his motivations. - Other AI firms, including OpenAI and Anthropic's rival, are also advocating for deceleration and regulation of the industry.
