A recommendation to increase the minimum wage by 2.8% is agreed by Senator Elaine Millar.
Social Security Minister Elaine Millar accepted this recommendation, stating that she had considered the challenges faced by businesses and employees. The minister also accepted equivalent increases in allowances for accommodation and meals provided to employees earning the main minimum wage rate. The report recommended maintaining trainee minimum wages at £10.50 and £11.75 per hour for another year. Millar announced that she will consider further consultation on a youth rate and changes to the formal trainee minimum wage policy, set by the Jersey Employment Forum.
