CEO Melanie Perkins says more than 1,000 staff will either lose their jobs or be asked to change roles.
Canva co-founder Melanie Perkins has announced significant changes to the company, affecting approximately 22% of its workforce. This decision comes after a year that Perkins described as "the hardest" for Canva, citing concerns over the impact of artificial intelligence on their business and soaring expenses related to AI rollouts. As a result, 1,271 people will be impacted, with some facing job cuts, relocations, or changes in roles. The company has also stated that Sydney will become the primary hub for more product teams, and hybrid workers will be expected to spend two to three days in the office from next year. Canva's valuation has reportedly dropped to around A$49bn from A$60bn earlier this year.
