Thu, 05 Nov 2026 Welsh aviation firm AerFin bought in £475m deal

The company, which was majority owned by a private equity firm, said it was beginning a "new chapter".
AerFin, a global aviation company based in Newport, has been acquired by Japanese firm ORIX Aviation in a deal worth £475m. The acquisition marks a new chapter for AerFin, which was founded by Bob James and has grown from a small south Wales business into a leading provider of aircraft engines, parts, and maintenance services. The company employs over 230 people and operates globally. ORIX Aviation's acquisition will provide AerFin with the resources to grow its business and expand its capabilities. Chief Executive Simon Goodson described the deal as "a defining moment" in AerFin's history, saying it would bring new opportunities for the company. The sale also marks the exit of Danish private equity investor CataCap, which had been the majority shareholder in AerFin since 2019.
