A food bank in Goole annouces it will close in January as costs rise and donations drop.
The Mission Trinity Food Bank in Goole, East Yorkshire, has closed after 16 years due to rising costs and declining donations. The charity was founded by David Sample, who has been running it as a volunteer since being made redundant. Despite buying food three times a week to meet demand, Sample said funds had dwindled to the point where they could no longer afford to operate. He attributed the decline in funding to the cost of living crisis and noted that personal circumstances, including his own redundancy, also contributed to the decision to close. The food bank supports around 50-60 families and individuals each week and will continue to run until January. Sample expressed gratitude to volunteers who have supported the charity over the years and hopes someone may come forward to take on the project with new funding streams in place.
